Understanding Baccarat: Rules and Key Bets
Baccarat is one of the simplest card games to play online, despite its historic association with high-society sophistication. The game is played between two main hands, the Player and the Banker. Your goal is simply to predict which hand will have a total value closest to nine, or if the round will end in a tie. Cards from two to nine hold their face value, aces are worth one point, and tens and face cards carry a value of zero. If the total of a hand exceeds nine, only the second digit is counted, meaning a total of fifteen becomes five.
- The Player Bet. A bet that the Player hand will finish closer to nine. This bet typically pays even money, which is one to one.
- The Banker Bet. A bet that the Banker hand will win. Because the Banker has a slight statistical advantage, a small commission is usually deducted from winning payouts.
- The Tie Bet. A bet that both hands will finish with the exact same score. While it offers high payouts, it has a significantly higher house edge.
